i graduated in 2007 from lewis & clark college with a liberal arts b.a. in studio arts and graphic design. lewis and clark's graphic design program, led by heather watkins (my hero), concentated on the conceptual, ethnographic and compositional tools and techniques for thoughtful graphic design.

the graphic design program consisted mainly of classic graphic design media, including print, layout and typography, but during my time there i became interested in alternative and new media, including web, animation, installation and silkscreen. to supplement my academic course of study, i learned flash, animation, web and silkscreening. for a class book design project, i decided to create the 'book' as a flash animation, and in the process i tought myself flash and created the nearly 5 minute animation, across the universe.

my thesis project was an installation in the famous portland building in downtown portland, and focused on the commonalities of seemingly divergent world perspectives. the installation ran for the month of july, 2007, and featured footage from the generous producers of one, a collection of discussions with prominent world religious and cultural thinkers.

my first professional work out of college was as house designer for Foresight Science and Technology™, a tech transfer firm in providence, rhode island. there i worked on developing a new corporate identity (via logo, animation, web and print design) and their new commercialization product, T2+2™.

i'm currently working in little rock, but i can work remotely, as well, so if you've got ideas, advice or requests, email me at e@elykahn.com
